Might the Anti Cigarette Law in England Drive Bingo Enthusiasts Online?

Much has been talked in the papers just a while ago regarding the bingo industry being hit as a consequence of the smoking ban in Britain. Conditions have become so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested big aid to assist in keeping the businesses from going bankrupt. However does the web adaptation of this classic game provide a lifeline, or will it in no way compare to its land based equivalent?

Bingo is an classic game normally enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game recently had seen a recent return in acceptance with younger members of society deciding to visit the bingo halls in place of the bars on a weekend. All this is about to change with the enacting of the anti smoking law across UK.

Players will no longer be permitted to puff on cigarettes whilst marking numbers. Starting in the summer of 2007 all public areas will no longer be permitted to allow cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo parlors, one of the most favorite places where many people like to smoke.

The results of the anti smoking law can already be felt in Scotland where cigarettes are already not allowed in the bingo halls. Numbers have plunged and the industry is beyond a doubt fighting for its life. But where did the players go? Surely they have not given up on this ancient game?

The answer is on the net. Players realize that they can gamble on bingo in front of their computer whilst enjoying a beverage and cigarette and in the end, enjoy massive jackpots. This is a recent development and has happened bordering on perfect with the ban on cigarettes.

Of course wagering on on the web will never replace the social portion of going down to the bingo parlour, but for a demographic of people the law has left a lot of bingo players with no alternative.
