Bingo and Oklahoma: Two Peas in a Pod
Oklahoma has for a long time been analogous with Bingo. That’s due to the fact that the Indian tribes of Oklahoma have operated Bingo games for generations. Patrons from each of the nearby states get in trucks and travel to Oklahoma to wager on Bingo over the weekends.
The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act became law after a benchmark decision by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. From that instance, twenty three of the thirty nine Indian bands of Oklahoma have opened gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma Amerindian band to take advantage of the betting rules, and today control ten casinos of their own. Bingo was the game on which the above-mentioned casinos were built on. Electronic games such as slots weren’t permitted, because they are thought to contribute to gambling dependency at a higher rate than bingo.
In recent years, Oklahoma law have changed to permit big American Indian wagering casinos. You’ll now find Indian casinos with slot machines, video poker and chemin de fer tables. Craps and roulette are still not approved in the Indian gambling dens yet, but that is simply a waiting game. No one can authority what having other games in the bingo parlours will do for the popularity of bingo.
