An abundance has been stated in the press just a while ago regarding the bingo industry being hurt as a result of the cigarette ban in the United Kingdom. Things have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has demanded big aid to assist in keeping the industry afloat. But can the net version of this traditional game present a lifeline, or will it never compare to its real life equivalent?

Bingo is an enduring game historically enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. For all that the game of late had seen a recent resurgence in popularity with younger members of society opting to visit the bingo parlors in place of the discos on a weekend. All this is about to get flipped on its head with the legislating of the smoking ban all over United Kingdom.

No more will enthusiasts be able to smoke while dabbing numbers. From the summer of ‘07 all public places will no longer be permitted to allow cigarettes in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlours, which are possibly the most favorite locations where players enjoy smoking.

The results of the cigarette ban can already be looked at in Scotland where smoking is already illegal in the bingo halls. Players have dropped and the business is beyond a doubt struggling for to stay alive. But where have all the players gone? Certainly they have not forgotten this classic game?

The answer is on the internet. People realize that they can play bingo from their computer at the same time enjoying a beverage and smoke and still enjoy monstrous prizes. This is a recent phenomenon and has happened just about perfectly with the anti smoking law.

Of course playing on the web is unlikely to replace the collective portion of going over to the bingo parlor, but for a demographic of men and women the rules have left a number of bingo enthusiasts with no option.
