Will the Cigarette Ban in Britain Force Bingo Enthusiasts On to the Web?

An abundance has been stated in the papers just a while ago concerning the bingo industry being hit because of the anti cigarette law in the UK. Conditions have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested huge aid to help keep the industry alive. But can the web variation of this classic game present a reprieve, or might it in no way compare to its land based opposite?

Bingo has been an classic game generally played by the "blue rinse" generation. Although the game recently had seen a recent resurgence in acceptance with younger members of society deciding to hit the bingo parlours rather than the bars on a Saturday night. All this is about to be reversed with the legislating of the cigarette ban around UK.

No more will gamblers be permitted to smoke whilst dabbing numbers. Starting in the summer of 2007 every public area will no longer be allowed to permit cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo parlours, one of the most favorite places where people like to smoke.

The effects of the smoking ban can already be seen in Scotland where cigarettes are already illegal in the bingo parlours. Numbers have dropped and the industry is beyond a doubt fighting for to stay alive. But where did the players go? Certainly they haven’t given up on this familiar game?

The answer is on the net. Gamblers realise that they can play bingo from their computer while enjoying a beverage and fag and still have a chance at massive prizes. This is a recent phenomenon and has happened bordering on perfect with the ban on smoking.

Of course wagering on on the net can never replace the social part of going down to the bingo parlour, but for a demographic of people the rules have left a good many bingo enthusiasts with little option.
