Bingo in Oklahoma
Oklahoma has long been interrelated with Bingo. That’s because the Amerindian bands of Oklahoma have operated Bingo games for decades. Clients from many of the neighboring states pile in cars and travel into Oklahoma to gamble on Bingo over the weekends.
The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) followed a landmark ruling by The U.S. Supreme Court the year prior. Since that time, twenty three of the thirty nine Native bands of Oklahoma have established bingo halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma Amerindian band to take advantage of the betting rules, and today run ten casinos of their own. Bingo is the game on which these casinos were built on. digital games such as slots were not allowed, due to the fact that they’re thought to contribute to gambling dependency at a higher rate than bingo.
In the past few years, Oklahoma law has altered to allow for enormous Native gaming gambling halls. You will now see Native gambling halls with slot machines, video poker and 21 tables. Craps and roulette are not approved in the Indian gambling dens as of yet, however that is just a matter of time. Nobody can say what having other games in the bingo houses will do for the appeal of bingo.
