Bingo in Oklahoma
Oklahoma has long been synonymous with Bingo. That is because the Indian bands of Oklahoma have run Bingo games for many years. Clients from each of the surrounding states pile in vans and head over to Oklahoma to enjoy Bingo for the weekends.
The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) was introduced after a benchmark determination by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. From that instance, 23 of the 39 Native tribes located in Oklahoma have opened gaming halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma Amerindian tribes to take advantage of the wagering laws, and today operate ten gambling dens of their very own. Bingo is the game on which the above-mentioned gambling halls were built on. automated games such as slot machine games weren’t allowed, on the grounds that they are believed to lead to gambling problems at a higher rate than bingo.
In recent years, Oklahoma law has altered to permit gigantic Native betting gambling halls. You will now see American Indian casinos with one armed bandits, video poker and chemin de fer tables. Craps and roulette are still not allowed in the Amerindian gambling dens yet, although this is simply a matter of time. No one can say what having different casino games in the bingo parlors will do for the appeal of bingo.
