Will the Cigarette Ban in Britain Drive Bingo Players Online?
A lot has been written in the papers recently concerning the bingo industry being hurt as a result of the anti smoking law in Britain. Conditions have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested huge aid to help keep the businesses alive. But can the web variation of this traditional game present a reprieve, or might it in no way compare to its land based equivalent?
Bingo is an established game normally played by the "blue haired" generation. For all that the game recently had seen a recent increase in acceptance with younger men and women opting to visit the bingo parlours rather than the bars on a weekend. This is all about to be destroyed with the enforcement of the anti smoking law around Britain.
Players will no longer be able to smoke while marking off their numbers. From the summer of ‘07 every public place will not be allowed to permit smoking in their locations and this includes Bingo parlours, one of the most favored locations where players enjoy smoking.
The effects of the cigarette ban can already be looked at in Scotland where cigarettes are already not permitted in the bingo parlors. Numbers have plummeted and the industry is absolutely struggling for its life. But where did all the players go? Certainly they haven’t cast aside this enduring game?
The answer is on the internet. People know that they can wager on bingo using their computer while enjoying a cocktail and smoke and in the end, have a chance at massive prizes. This is a recent anomaly and has timed itself bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.
Of course gambling on on the web can never replace the communal part of heading over to the bingo parlor, but for a group of men and women the rules have left a good many bingo players with little option.
